On Thursday the 20th of January the Granby Somali Women’s Group were proud to launch our Heritage Project with the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund. The evening involved an introduction by the Project worker, a speech by Alan Dean Labour Councillor and Labour Chief Whip; this was followed on by traditional Somali dancing, singing and a look at the organisations new website and the project itself. The evening ended with some delicious and amazing food courtesy of the Somali women and everybody indulged.
It was a great night filled with culture, history and artefacts’. Members of the Somali community attended, along with other charitable organisations in Liverpool and the local community residing in the Princess Park ward.
Thank you to everyone who attended helped out and contributed, along with all well wishers.
